Footballers can’t play football on Sunday morning because of hangover
Mario Piu, the Chairman of Folgore Mamoiada, a football team from Mamoiada (pictured above, they aren’t Sampdoria !), a small village of 2.500 inhabitants situated in the Province of Nuoro, Sardinia, Italy, threatened to retire his team from the Championship of Sardinian Seconda Categoria (the second lowest level in Italian official football pyramid) because of the weak commitment and the low reliability of his footballers.
The team is currently second last in the table, but Mr. Piu is mainly annoyed because last Sunday morning just 12 players showed up at the football ground to play a Championship match against Oniferese, a very small number considering that in the squad of Folgore Mamoiada there are 28 footballers.
According to Mr. Più, his players drink too much and go to sleep too late on Saturday nights, and on Sunday mornings they aren’t able to play a football match because of hangover.
So the Chairman asked for a change in the behavior of the lads, otherwise he will retire the club from the Championship, and added that the players with no more willingness can leave the team immediately.
ThefootballWElike understand the reasons of Mr. Piu, but understand the footballers as well, because amateur football matches on Sunday morning are very very annoying and should be forbidden !
