The Geniuses of the Day: Víctor Casadesús & Rubén García
Today we don’t have just one “Genius of the Day”, but two: the Spanish footballers Víctor Casadesús and Rubén García, who play for UD Levante !
We start introducing them to you: Victor Casadesús is a 29-year-old striker whose goal scoring averange isn’t too high (he scored 9 and 8 goals in 34 and 33 matches in his two best seasons in La Liga, and 6 and 14 goals in 19 and 36 games in his two best seasons in Segunda Divisiòn), who last January came to UD Levante after playing 9 seasons at RCD Mallorca, and two at Real Sociedad (second tier) and Gimnàstic de Tarragona (second tier), while Rubén García is a very interesting 20-year-old offensive midfielder/left winger that is usually selected by Spanish Under 21 NT, and is now playing his second season as a regular starter.
It’s April 12, 2014 and during the 90th minute of La Liga match, that UD Levante was drawing 0-0 at Villarreal CF, the Club from Valencia was awarded a free kick from a quite dangerous place, and the two players, we have just introduced, are around the ball: Víctor Casadesús took the run and kicked the ball, but meanwhile Rubén García did the same, and so the two teammates obstructed eachother, making the commentators laugh.
From the video it’s not easy to determine which player had kicked the ball, or if they had kicked it togheter concurrently, anyway the shot was very weak, and ended quite wide.
It’s not clear if the teammates misunderstood eachoter, or if they wanted to try a shot that they had probably watched in Captain Tsubasa’s anime when they were
children (you can find the video at the end of the post) !
Morevoer the God of Football probably decided to punish UD Levante because of them: a couple of minutes later a goal from the French Jérémy Perbet gave Villarreal CF the 1-0 victory !
