Tim Wiese: from goalkeeper to wrestler !
Many of you surely already know Tim Wiese, a German goalkeeper who collected 6 caps for German National Team and, after playing for Fortuna Koln and Kaiserslautern, had defended Werder Bremen‘s goal for 7 years, before being signed by Hoffenheim in 2012.
During the last months/years Tim’s body started becoming bigger and bigger, while he didn’t appear on football pitches very often, so that in January 2014 he was released by Hoffenheim, became a free agent and last September, when he was just 32, still quite Young for being GK, he announced his retirement from football, also because he had meanwhile started a career as bodybuilder.
His story is already quite particular, but it isn’t over yet, because, after few weeks of speculations, the former GK signed a contract with WWE, the most important wrestling League in the world, to become a professional wrestler: he will start from NXT, a lower division, that in football would be a kind of reserve/Youth Championship.
Last Sathurday (November 15, 2014) Tim attended a WWE event in Frankfurt, Germany, watching a team “fight” between the Usos and a pair formed by Goldust and Stardust: when the match was almost over, he, acclaimed by the fans, looked ready to fight, but finally he entered the ring only when the match was already over, and then just showed his muscles and greeted his supporters.
In our opinion he still could have been a good goalkeeper, as Reinhardt Bauer (a.k.a. Deuter Muller), the big and strong GK of German NT, was in Captain Tsubasa anime/manga !
