US Salernitana 1919 – ASG Nocerina: match suspended because a team suffered too many (fake) injuries
Yesterday in Italian Lega Pro Prima Divisione (the third tier of Italian Football) the match US Salernitana 1919 - ASG Nocerina was scheduled in the afternoon in Salerno. It’s a Derby because both Salerno and Nocera Inferiore are situated in Campania Region, where Naples is situated as well, and there’s a strong rivality between their supporters. Fearing public disorders, few days ago Italian Authorities decided not to allow away supporters to enter Stadio Arechi, but this decision was strongly opposed by ultras of Nocerina, that decided they would have gone to Salerno anyway. But later they changed strategy, and in the morning of the matchday they went to their team and threatened the footballers, ordering them not to play, because, according to their point of view, if supporters can’t be in the stadium, the players mustn’t be there as well. Nocerina went to the stadium, but its players said that they wouldn’t have played the game, then they changed their mind because authorities reassured them about their safety, The match started delayed of nearly 40 minutes, but 2 minutes after the kick-off, Nocerina had alreay used all their three replacements, because of alleged “injuries”. After 20 minutes Nocerina suffered five other suspicious ”injuries”, and the Referee had to end the match because there weren’t enough players of Nocerina to continue the game. Supporters of Salernitana inside the stadium complained about the sevaral “injuries”, and, when the Referee blew the final whistle, a great part of them had already left Stadio Arechi, Meanwhile a small airplane flew over the stadium showing a flag with these words: “Respect for Nocera and Ultras”.
After the “match” about one hundred of ultras of Nocerina met in a square in Nocera Inferiore and celebrated their personale “victory”. One executive of Nocerina said that all those “injuries” were caused by the fact that players hadn’t had the possibility to warm up before the match and announced that he and all of the executives resigned. The consequences of these facts are still unknown, some authorities “promised” severe punishments.
