Fat Footballers: Walter Henrique da Silva a.k.a. “Walter”
Dear Readers, we are going to start a new topic about footballers that apparently haven’t a proper body to play football, so that sometimes they could have been mocked because of that, but they can be (very) good players anyway.
Today we want to introduce you Walter Henrique da Silva, a.k.a. ”Walter”, a striker (1,76 cm and 100 kg) of FC Porto, currently playing on loan for Fluminense Football Club in Brazil.
He was born in 1989 in Porto Alegre, and started playing for minor local teams until 2008, when SC International noticed and bought him. Walter also played for Under 20 Brazilian National Team, and won 2007 U-20 South American Championship, scoring 5 goals in the competition.
In 2010 he started quarrelling with his Club because of economic reasons, he was regularly playing for the First Team, but he was still paid as a member of the Youth Team, so made a personal strike, and he had locked himself inside his house for two weeks, asking a better salary or to be sold, and SC International chose the second option.
So he was sold in Portugal to FC Porto, where he was the replacement of Falcao, but anyway he played 33 match and scored 16 goals, including Cups.
But in 2012 FC Porto loaned him to Goiás Esporte Clube, where he increased both his appearences and his weight, keeping an high goal scoring average (almost 1 every 2 matches).
In January 2014 he came back to FC Porto, that immediately loaned him back to Brazil, but this time to Fluminense Football Club, a very prestigious team !
He said to Brazilian press that he’s happy about his weight, because he can run as much as his teammates, but he can protect the ball better (how could anyone say that he’s wrong ?), moreover he revealed that he doesn’t eat too much at lunch and dinner, but he loves eating sweets before going to sleep.
THIS IS THE FOOTBALL WE LIKE !
In this video you can see Walter in action.
