In the mid-week days AFC Ajax doesn’t play just in UEFA ChampionsLeague, but sometimes it also have to contest in the Dutch Cup. Few weeks ago they faced the amateur club JOSWatergraafsmeer, from #Hoofdklasse (fourth tier), in the Second Round of 2014/15 KNVB beker: being JOS the home team, and being it based in Amsterdam as well, the match was a true Derby (even if without any rivalry), it was the first official one contested in the city since 1983, so both teams decided to play the match at the glorious Olympic Stadium, that was built for 1928 Summer Olympics and had been the ground where Ajax played its international and night (the old DeMeer Stadium had no artificial lights) home games until 1996, when Amsterdam ArenaA opened.
The comeback to the old venue has surely attracted more people to the stadium than any other venue would have for a match of this level. Ajax won the game 0-9, and the Polish Arkadiusz Milik was the top scorer with six goals, while in JOS WGM squad there was Davey van’t Schip, the son of John, a former Dutch International and a former Ajax and Genoa winger.
